Art Garden

Glen Villa Art Garden is a tranquil lakeside and woodland garden nestled within the pastoral setting of Quebec’s Eastern Townships.

Today’s garden is the creation of Patterson Webster, a visual artist, garden designer and writer. Focusing on the rich and unusual history of the property, the lives of the people who have lived on it and the ways that personal stories have shaped its natural beauty, she has transformed a traditional country estate into a landscape that explores questions of memory, identity and our relationship to the land. Paths crisscross the 750-acre property, leading to garden rooms and art installations that explore the history of the site and the people who have shared it.

The garden is open on Open Garden days and to seminars and tours by prior arrangement. Patterson is also available to present one of her lively talks about gardens, landscape design and art. Her richly illustrated book, Autobiography of a Garden, recounts how she transformed an ordinary country garden into an extraordinary one.
