Bands of clay and granite in a monochromatic palette are stacked to form a narrow column near the entry to Glen Villa. The artist has placed the sculpture at the entry to the house, following the traditional Chinese practice of setting guardians at the door to protect those within, highlighting how the family’s time in China continues to strongly influence the artist’s personal aesthetic.
