Grandchildren Trees
The Grandchildren Trees celebrate Norman and Patterson Webster’s eleven grandchildren, with a tree planted for each new arrival in the year of the child’s birth. Ten trees are maples while the eleventh is a crabapple, honouring a request from the mother of the youngest grandchild for a flowering tree that bears fruit. The crabapple is planted on a berm facing the maples, which are arranged in a triangle like pins in a bowling alley. Low silver bars at the points of the triangle emphasize the shape.
