It’s grey and nasty today and all I can think about is spring. I know it will come but its arrival seems a long way away.
So instead of moaning, I’m dreaming of snowdrops …
and crocus …
and buds beginning to bloom.
I’m dreaming of stretching out on the grass in Annetta’s garden, gazing at the scilla and bloodroot that cover the hillside.
I’m yearning for the day when the magnolia buds, now tightly wrapped in their furry coats,
open to a petticoat pink that dances in the breeze.
I’m yearning for the day when ferns begin to unfurl…
and daffodils form an orderly line, processing across the grass.
Yearning won’t bring spring any sooner. But I can dream, can’t I?
What are you dreaming about?
Dreaming of exploring your garden on spring and take pictures very soon of a sunny day.
If the sun ever comes, Vincent!
The promise of things to come!!!!!
Today is very promising! Blue skies, sunshine and ignore the slush!
actually, though I know how you feel, consider yourself lucky. We (near Asheville NC) have been in the upper 70’s for 9 days and every early spring perennial is way out of the ground, flowering even. The heat did snowdrops and Iris reticulatas in in no time. I am very glad we are going back into cooler temperatures otherwise there will be nothing left for March or April. Let Spring come at it’s normal time!
It’s always sad when hot weather does in the snowdrops and iris so quickly. Same goes from Jeffersonia, my favourite spring ephemeral. If the blossom lasts two days I count myself lucky. If it lasts for three, it’s a miracle.
They are forecasting cool spring temperatures across Canada so I guess I will dream along with you!
Cool springs in B.C. aren’t the same as cool springs in Quebec — for one thing, they come about two months earlier.
Lovely photos, especially all the daffs and Magnolia. All our snow has melted and the first snowdrops have just begun to bloom!
You are way ahead of us… we still have snow although there are bare patches. I’m expecting another big dump or two before spring comes.
Nope – I’ve blanked out on all of it. Just began to think there was a garden out there again, then we got big pile of snow dumped all over it. Doh! Thinking of other things for a while. Xxxx
Now that the bare spots on the ground are starting to meet each other, I’m waiting for our big dump. It will come, I’m sure.
We were just begining to see green and now snow is forecast again tonight! Xxx
