It was a grey, rainy day but the gardens were glorious! The flowers in one garden were the stars of the day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7653\" style=\"width: 5194px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7653\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7653\" src=\"http:\/\/glenvillaartgarden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/peony-2-1-of-1.jpg\" alt=\"The many petals of this peony capture raindrops.\" width=\"5184\" height=\"3456\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-7653\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Raindrops on roses are nice. Raindrops on peonies are even better.\u00a0I&rsquo;m not sure how to rank whiskers on kittens.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bright copper kettles are no competition for the WOW! of this poppy. Talk about gorgeous!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7652\" style=\"width: 3775px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7652\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7652\" src=\"http:\/\/glenvillaartgarden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/poppy-1-of-1.jpg\" alt=\"Orange is not the new black, it is a battle between exuberance and fragility.\" width=\"3765\" height=\"2579\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-7652\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The colour is exuberant and the petals are fragile. This\u00a0contradiction is one reason why I love poppies.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I can&rsquo;t promise that you&rsquo;ll see either of these flowers if you visit Glen villa on July 20, when we open the garden to the public as a fundraiser for the Massawippi Foundation and Conservation Trust.\u00a0 In fact, I can promise that you won&rsquo;t, since poppies and peonies will no longer be in bloom.
