Ragged robin turns this field rosy pink.<\/p><\/div>\n

Closer to the house, colours appear in smaller doses.<\/p>\n

Hawthorn trees are a froth of white.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Old-fashioned

Old-fashioned day lilies brighten a dark path.<\/p><\/div>\n

In the Lower Garden, irises add\u00a0a touch of\u00a0purple among the shades of green.<\/p><\/div>\n

Clematis ‘Inspiration’ blooms faithfully each summer.<\/p><\/div>\n

I wish I could remember the name of this Iris. The colour is stunning.<\/p><\/div>\n

I started this Sanguisorba from seed many years ago. It makes me think of the brushes I used to use to clean baby bottles.<\/p><\/div>\n

The Aqueduct is satisfyingly colourful throughout the summer.<\/p>\n

Nepeta\u00a0blooms continuously for a solid six weeks.<\/p><\/div>\n

A close-up of the scene above shows Gillenia trifoliata, or Bowman’s root, combined with Nepeta ‘Walker’s Low.’<\/p><\/div>\n

Perhaps my favourite combination this year was the Eremurus ‘Cleopatra’ rising up from the Nepeta at the Aqueduct, with Gillenia in the foreground and boxwood peeping out here and there.<\/p><\/div>\n

My son and grandson spotted this fawn very shortly after the baby was born.<\/p><\/div>\n
