If you go down in the woods today,you’re sure of a big surprise.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I went down in the woods — and was I surprised!\u00a0There were no teddy bears and no signs of a picnic, but I did see some strange creatures. I saw a head, a dark face with twisted\u00a0features.<\/p>\n

\"Hallowe'en<\/a>

His ferny hair makes him look like Caligula — a truly scary man.<\/p><\/div>\n

As I watched, a body began to emerge from the ground. \u00a0I didn’t wait around to see what would happen next.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Hallowe'en<\/a>

No wonder he’s grimacing. It’s hard work unearthing yourself.<\/p><\/div>\n

Father along\u00a0the path, another creature appeared. At first I saw his\u00a0head and shoulders only.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Another<\/a>

Another Roman Emperor, or the bust of one.<\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

But as I watched, two eyes appeared.<\/p>\n

\"I<\/a>

I wonder if his yellow eyes glow in the dark.<\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

I blinked. Was this really happening?<\/p>\n

He opened his eyes, I closed mine, afraid to look. And when I did, he’d grown two arms and a leg.\u00a0\u00a0Beside him, a piece of wood twitched. Was it becoming a second leg?<\/p>\n

\"What's<\/a>

What’s happening? His eyes have changed.<\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

I left before I could find out. Maybe he was\u00a0friendly, maybe not. \u00a0All I know is, when I came back, someone had taken a bite out of a\u00a0tree nearby.<\/p>\n

\"Whoever<\/a>

Whoever took a bite out of this tree had a big mouth.<\/p><\/div>\n
