fonte, peinture, \u00e9tain<\/span><br \/>\nCollection de l&rsquo;artiste<\/p>\n<p>Dans cette vaste installation, 100 pommetiers blancs sont dispos\u00e9s en deux lignes parall\u00e8les, flanquant un chemin de 800 pieds de long qui coupe en deux un champ agricole. A chaque extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;all\u00e9e, 8 pommetiers roses forment un carr\u00e9, ajoutant une fioriture pour souligner l&rsquo;entr\u00e9e et la sortie. Les lignes droites en fl\u00e8che de l&rsquo;\u0153uvre s&rsquo;\u00e9cartent des courbes douces traditionnellement utilis\u00e9es dans les jardins de campagne, rendant plut\u00f4t hommage \u00e0 la formalit\u00e9 et \u00e0 la grandeur de la conception historique des jardins \u00e0 la fran\u00e7aise. Ce lien est encore renforc\u00e9 par le titre de l&rsquo;installation, affich\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;entr\u00e9e du terrain sous la forme d&rsquo;un panneau de signalisation : La Grande All\u00e9e, lien explicite au boulevard principal de la ville de Qu\u00e9bec et aux racines fran\u00e7aises de la province.<\/p>\n<p>Traditionnellement, une statue ou une \u0153uvre d&rsquo;art de valeur similaire est plac\u00e9e au bout d&rsquo;une all\u00e9e, mettant en valeur la pi\u00e8ce tout en attirant l&rsquo;\u0153il et en encourageant le mouvement le long du chemin. Pourtant, ici, l&rsquo;artiste a choisi une simple chaise \u00e0 la taille d&rsquo;un enfant pour la position de pro\u00e9minence, continuant \u00e0 jouer avec les conventions. \u00c9lev\u00e9e \u00e0 environ quatre pieds au-dessus du sol, la chaise est visible de loin mais inaccessible, niant sa fonction premi\u00e8re. Le positionnement contradictoire soul\u00e8ve la question de savoir pourquoi cet objet a \u00e9t\u00e9 choisi comme point focal.
