et clips en acier<\/span><br \/>\nCollection de l&rsquo;artiste<\/p>\n<p>Ce travail sculptural juxtapose l&rsquo;apparence et la r\u00e9alit\u00e9, soulevant des questions sur chacun. Quatre feuilles de t\u00f4le ondul\u00e9e se dressent, en forme de colonne, sous un fronton triangulaire, \u00e9voquant la fa\u00e7ade d&rsquo;un temple grec. Une colonne est incompl\u00e8te, ce qui rend l&rsquo;\u00e9tat du temple ambigu. La structure est-elle en cours de construction ou de d\u00e9molition ? Va-t-elle s&rsquo;effondrer ou se transformer en quelque chose de nouveau ?<\/p>\n<p>La nature de la structure elle-m\u00eame est tout aussi ambigu\u00eb. Soutenue par des poteaux en acier, la fa\u00e7ade ressemble \u00e0 la fois \u00e0 un panneau publicitaire et aux fausses fa\u00e7ades des westerns hollywoodiens. Quelle est cette fa\u00e7ade ? L&rsquo;entr\u00e9e d&rsquo;un lieu de culte ou d&rsquo;une entreprise commerciale ? La \u00ab porte \u00bb d&rsquo;entr\u00e9e ne m\u00e8ne pas \u00e0 un b\u00e2timent ; au lieu de cela, un chemin m\u00e8ne \u00e0 travers la fa\u00e7ade vers d&rsquo;anciens pommiers soutenus par des bois denses.<\/p>\n<p>S&rsquo;\u00e9levant dans ces bois se dressent trois colonnes de t\u00f4le ondul\u00e9e, reli\u00e9es par une bande de t\u00f4le ondul\u00e9e. Contrairement aux colonnes plates de la fa\u00e7ade du temple, ces colonnes sont rondes et tridimensionnelles, marquant un chemin processionnel qui fait \u00e9cho \u00e0 The Past Looms Large, la section pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente de Timelines. Il n&rsquo;y a pas de chemin dans les bois, mais les colonnes et la bande d&rsquo;\u00e9tain invitent \u00e0 entrer dans un espace qui implique un temple construit par la nature.<\/p>\n<p>La fa\u00e7ade du temple poursuit le th\u00e8me grec des installations pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes. Comme eux, il joue avec les conventions, avec les attentes et avec les perceptions du spectateur. Une conception \u00e0 perspective forc\u00e9e montre la fa\u00e7ade sous un angle par rapport au spectateur, la faisant appara\u00eetre plus \u00e9loign\u00e9e qu&rsquo;elle ne l&rsquo;est en r\u00e9alit\u00e9. Dans la zone bois\u00e9e au-del\u00e0, la bande d&rsquo;\u00e9tain se r\u00e9tr\u00e9cit en largeur \u00e0 mesure qu&rsquo;elle recule tandis que les colonnes restent \u00e0 la m\u00eame hauteur, une autre manipulation de la perspective.<\/p>\n<p>Cette installation poursuit et amplifie les th\u00e8mes \u00e9tablis dans les installations pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes.<br \/>\nDeux chaises et deux panneaux \u00e9pelant les attentes optiques invers\u00e9es \u00ab Perspective\u00bb et, ce faisant, vous demandent de consid\u00e9rer comment vos opinions et vos actions sont affect\u00e9es par les attentes et par o\u00f9 vous vous situez, litt\u00e9ralement et m\u00e9taphoriquement. The Past Looms Large, avec son lien explicite avec l&rsquo;architecture et le design grecs, vous demande de r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir \u00e0 la facilit\u00e9 avec laquelle vos attentes pour l&rsquo;avenir, ou avec ce qui vient ensuite, peuvent \u00eatre boulevers\u00e9es.
